Here are some Mentoring Guidelines that will help you with your mentoring engagements.

     Engagement letter

Here is the text of an Engagement Letter between you and your client, setting out the terms and conditions under which you are providing mentoring services.

At the start of each mentoring engagement, we strongly recommend that each of the individuals who you will be mentoring signs a copy of this letter, once for themselves and once on behalf of their company.

Amongst other things, this will protect you from any possible claims of liability that might arise from your assignments.

If you have little or no experience of coaching or mentoring, you may wish to do some background reading. There are many books on the subject and quality varies: here are some that our mentors recommend from their own experience:

  • "Coaching for Performance: GROWing People, Performance and Purpose" by Sir John Whitmore. A diamond amongst the polished glass of coaching literature. Recommended by Simon Williams.
